A psychiatric mental health clinical nurse specialist (PMHCNS) is an advance practice registered nurse with education and clinical expertise in diagnostic assessment, formulating treatment plans, prescribing medications, providing therapy, and promoting overall health. In addition to the scope of practice, roles and responsibilities of a psychiatric nurse practitioner, a Clinical Nurse Specialist has additional expertise and training to influence not only the individual patient, but also the education and development of other nurses providing care to patients, and as a consultant. Leslie has been a Program Director of the Psychiatric Nursing Resource Service at Brigham & Womens Hospital, an educator, and consultant to nurses and multidisciplinary staff in that complex health system.
The types of treatment to be employed during our time together will vary according to your comfort level, preference, and readiness for change. In addition to medication management and/or therapy, I am likely to suggest changes to lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, hydration or other environmental variables. I may also recommend learning more about the nature or origin of your condition in the form of reading, writing, and reflection to foster personal insight and self-awareness.
I make every effort to be authentic, fun, and collaborative.
Our first meeting usually lasts 65-75 minutes but could be longer or shorter depending on the issues. We will review your symptoms, personal history, life goals, and treatment goals.
To provide individualized treatment, I do not participate in insurance plans. However, you can file for out of network insurance benefits with a furnished receipt for care provided. This is between you and your insurance carrier and is not guaranteed. *7.1.2021 We now accept BCBS of Massachusetts. Inquire within for additional questions.
